Birthday Tutu

For her birthday, Ciara received this adorable tutu from her best friend Rowan. It took me six months to remember to take a picture of her in it. It took me another month to remember to post it! Yikes!

Testing Day!

Ciara had her level four gymnastics testing today. She woke this morning feeling pretty confident and without much obvious nervousness.

I, on the other hand, was a totally different story. My immune system is still not cooperating with me, and I still don't have enough white blood cells to adequately protect myself. So, waking up with chills, a fever, and a deep cough, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to risk going out in public to watch. 

Against all advice, I went anyway. Will I pay for it later? I don't know. But I was really happy to be there to see Ciara out there doing what she loves.

Here are a couple of pre-testing photos. Ciara begged me to do her hair in the same competition style her friend Lydia wears during meets. Having only seen Lydia compete once, and being too lazy to search my computer for a photo of Lydia's competition hair,  I tried my best to remember the hairstyle. I'm not sure how well I did, but at least Ciara was really happy with the style!

Golfing Girl Power

Ciara was out on a golf course for the first time today. She wasn't enrolled in a golf class, per se. Instead she and her best friend Rowan attended a free golf clinic designed to get more girls interested in the sport. It was a lovely day, and there were over 30 girls in attendance!

Everyone seemed to have fun and received a lot of attention from the coaches.

We'll have to see if Ciara will be interested in joining her grampy, uncles and cousins on the golf course anytime soon!

DYNAMITE!

Ciara and her best friend Rowan have been working on a video concept. For the last couple of months they have gone from a straight singing video to a singing/piano combination to a now park play/gymnastics/singing/driving production. It's all very elaborate and hard to keep up with! I'm very impressed with their creativity though. This past weekend, we filmed the first video takes. It's still very rough. However, if I know these two, it will be perfect soon enough!

Christmas Recital 2011

In December, Ciara performed in her third recital. She didn't seem nervous at all! As is common with us, we overbooked ourselves that day; therefore we were unable to stay and watch any of the other kids perform. Ciara went on first, played her number, and then we left for a birthday party! Hope you enjoy her renditon of Away in A Manger.

Up and running!

After a lot of peer pressure, I'm finally setting up a "stay connected" page. I'll try to keep it as current as possible. However, anyone reading this already knows how much of a total slacker I am. Let's see how long I can keep at it!
